Why Go Vegan?

I have recently had quite a few people message me saying that they want to go vegan, but are not really sure where to start. If you are currently eating meat and animal products, switching to a plant based lifestyle can seem like a lot of work, and too be honest it can be! The fact that you are planning to change your whole lifestyle though says a lot, you are willing to make a huge step in the right direction in benefiting not only your own health, but also the health of the environment and of course, you will be saving the many lives of helpless animals.

In this post I will explain; how going vegan can help your health, the planet and the animals.

Vegan for your health:

Veganism will increase your energy levels, while at the same time decrease your risk for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Over time you will also notice vegans tend to be leaner simply because their diet, if done properly, is much lower in fat compared to the typical American diet.

Vegan for the planet:

The amount of water needed to feed livestock is enormous, along with the amount of water needed for slaughtering and producing the final product. According to a post from Vegnews “it takes 100 to 200 times more water to produce a pound of beef than it does to grow a pound of plant foods”. Not only does Veganism save water but also the pollution coming from producing meat, dairy and eggs is tremendous!

Vegan for the Animals:

I don’t know about you but the thought of consuming, pus, hormones, bee vomit, chicken periods, animal feces and blood does’t sound very appealing to me. When you consume animal products this is what you are ingesting. All animals have the right to live and it is not up to us to decide which ones get to live and which die. What makes your pet dog more valuable vs the cow on your plate for dinner? All these animals have a heart to live, eyes to see, a nervous system to feel… When you go vegan you are proving your compassion to these animals and their lives.

These are just a few reasons to go vegan, however there are many many more! Not only does Veganism have the power to save the lives of animals but also your own, make the change and start today!
